James “Jim” Jenkins, 64, Oblong, IL passed away at 7:31 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL. Jim was born on August 13, 1951, in Flora, IL and was the son of Charles R. Jenkins and Hazel Mae (Welch) Jenkins. On March 14, 1971 he married Mary Angela “Angie” Burns and she survives.
Jim was a graduate of Oblong High School class of 1969; employed at Victor Dana as a mill operator for 15 years; owner of Jenkin’s Well Service then went to Hershey working as a processing operator. Jim attended White Oak Church, rural Oblong and Four C’s in Robinson, IL. He studied electronics through DeVry University and Lincoln Trail College studying Petroleum Tech. His hobbies included stamp collecting, HO trains, Marx Green Army men and vehicles; and other classic toys. He was an avid toy collector.
Jim is survived by his wife Angie Jenkins of Oblong, IL; two sons and daughters-in-law Dennis Ray and Laurie E. Jenkins, Oblong, IL; Christopher Brian and Celeste Jenkins, Lawrenceville, IL; four grandchildren: Tyler Ray Jenkins, South Korea; Bryant Jenkins, Lawrenceville, IL; Ella Elizabeth Jenkins, Oblong, IL; and Addison Hazel Jenkins, Lawrenceville, IL; two brothers and sisters-in-law Jack and Cindy Jenkins, Oblong, IL; Randy and Sharon Jenkins, Weatherford, OK; two sisters and a brother-in-law Sandy Ross, Oblong, IL; and Katheryne and Everett Maxwell, Mt. Enterprise, TX; Angie’s mother Betty Burns and a brother-in-law Ricky Jay Burns; along with several nieces and nephews and great-niece and nephews. Jim will be greatly missed by his pets Bob, Tom and Harry.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents and a brother Robert G. “Bob” Jenkins.
